well I hope, that he was alright.. It could end up worse.. Probably locking up the keys helps (in case, that this lesson was not enough for him... )

Okay, this is old news to me and the few people I told (like Star Wars Fanatic), but our minivan has been wrecked. I waited to create a topic about it because I wanted pictures, and they have been developed.
Last week I went to a dog show in MA with my friend Vikki (she was showing her Irish Water Spaniel Brynn, who became a Champion on Friday when Brynn got a 3 point major). I got a phone call from one of my brothers who is 12 saying our car was totalled when my little brother (9) crashed it. He made it sound way worse then it did, describing that it flipped over into a river. It was not quite as bad, but it was bad. I came home on Sunday, and first noticed a huge dent on the rear hatch. As me and my Dad drove up further, I saw the bad damage. What had happened, was early in the morning my little brother got up and went outside and stole the van. How? Its a automatic, he knows where the keys are hidden and its easy to know what to do (as he has seen people do it, and 'D' stands for drive). So he took it upon himself to steal it. He floored the car and went flying down our road, couldn't make the turn and he flew off the road at our bridge and went down, stopping about 2 feet from the river. The van went slanted into the woods, and was airbourne. But going sideways slammed it into a tree, spun it around and landed. Thus the door was serious broken. And being in the woods, there are dents and scratches all over the poor van. The front tires literally blew apart when it hit the ground, the under-body was damaged, the fuel tank cracked, the front fascia of the car damaged from impacted, headlights cracked and broken, front windsheild cracked and various other things.
Van door covered by garbage bag and duct tape the day after the wreck.
The van's door, uncovered today at the auto body shop.
Van interior seat by the door that hit the tree. Note, this shot was taken when the bag was over the door. The black rock like things are glass.
Just a few of the dents and scratches on the hood.
The van's dent in the hatch.
There is more damage, but I do not have pictures. The serious damage was done to the underbody of the car and the door. There was no interior protrustion though, but the airbags did not go off because the main impacts were done to the door and the bottom of the car.
Injuies to van, and what needs to be replaced:
-Gas tank
-Door
-Roof (whole new roof)
-Hood (new hood)
-Two new tires (front)
-Windsheild (cracked windsheild)
-Passenger side door window (along with door)
-Rear hatch
-Headlights (cracked)
-Bumpers (pushed up on impact)
-Under-body needs a little re-shapening
Injuries to brother:
-None.
A all new hood, roof and door are being sent from Detroit via truck, and when they arrive, the Venture will go to the shop. Hasn't happened yet. And we will have to put up with a shitty rental. We actually still drive it around in the condition it in.
