How about this song, it's one of the best from Claudio Baglioni:

Toto Cotugno - this is his most famous song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zw3i1Wrlhvw (don't mind the video)

My father is a big fan of Ricchi e Poveri. I'm not that much into it, though they have few decent songs. I was in their concert few years ago in Lake Garda, Italy. My father is also a big fan of Eros Ramazzotti. He listened his music already in the 1980's before he became a big name. Toto Cutugno is not familiar to me, I've heard the name few times but that's it.

well morricone is a class for himself
but I think, that italian language is the most "singable" language of all and the song in italian are so melodic.. Anyway Ricchi e Poveri, Toto Cutugno etc. etc (italian classics from late 70s, early 80s
)

Sure
Italians have composed some of the best songs ever. Ennio Morricone, Claudio Baglione, Bobby Solo etc. How about you ?
