Who can identify the car directly in front of the old railroad station here?:

I think it might be an early-1950's Dodge of some kind.

Not a Dodge, but from the same "family": it's a 1951 or 1952 DeSoto Deluxe or Custom
1949-1950 models had a slightly different chrome trim, 1953 was a brand new car. I think (but I'm not sure) that as entry level (!), the Deluxe didn't have the big chrome block before the rear fenders as standard trim.
As "Custom" and "Deluxe" have both 6 letters, it won't help counting the letters to identify the model of the picture... But due to the 4th (and not the 3rd) letter that seems to be somewhat higher than the others, I'll say it's a Custom.
According to this guy, "the difference between '51 and '52 is in the DeSoto lettering on the hood. '51 is in script. '52 is in block letters". Once again, not sure you can see it with "your" picture
One thing sure: it's not a (V8-powered) 1952 DeSoto Firedome, as the hood emblem was different:

Off topic thought: cars were not pedestrian friendly, at that time...

Maserati Quattroporte, I'd say.

I think inspired by a RR Phantom IV, but there wasn't a Sedance de ville with this boot in the 18 examples made - http://blaize.perso.neuf.fr/p_boitet2.html
