Falling in love with a color

When i had my Protegé, i wanted to make it like a Protegé5 sedan ( front bumper, side kit ( the piece that goes under the door, from the front wheel arch to the rear bumper, don't know the name ) and the blue from 2002 ( not the laser blue as it was available on sedans for 2003 and wanted it to be unique ). Also would have installed the MazdaSpeed's tailights. That was until 2007 when Phantom blue mica came out for the Mazda 3 and 5

After seeing a 3 GT with it, wanted my Protegé to be that color ( yeah, ok, wanted a 3 GT as well... ). Sadly, never had the money to do such modifications.

Since last week, another color is challenging the Mazda's one..Ford's ruby red metallic as seen here

What i still don't understand.... other than on a Ferrari, i don't usually want red on a car...

Does somebody else went like this one day : want it THAT color and nothing else ?

I don't like bright red cars either but do like the darker reds used on Fords (like the Mustang) and on some Mazdas. I think there's colours that suit some cars really well but look crap on others.

I can see it too, you look at the various colours on a car and decide that certain ones look the best or really attractive. Sad thing is that it's a minority who think like that, in Britain most people want an Audi or BMW in silver, grey or black. Boring!

One of the reasons I bought my Passat was because it was a great shade of blue (a 2008 Cobalt, like this one:

I get compliments on it all the time.

I prefer an actual color as opposed to the current trend of only black or white, or any shade of gray in between. I don't mind silver, and liked it on my old Protégé. I've had two white cars and one black one, but prefer the green, red and blue ones I've also had.

The blue looks similar to the shade I wanted for my first Acura Integra. There were none available, so I got a Cypress Green one instead. And the red Mustang looks just like my second Integra, a Ruby Red Pearl Metallic, that I loved; not too red, not too maroon.

I fell in love with a dark blue which has tendencies to go into black.

That was the reason why my second Chrysler Stratus has exactly the same color as my first one. The color code is PCN and its called Deep Amethyst Pearl:
