Is Al-Khazneh in Petra, Jordan seen in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade the best filming location?
or the coast of Maui as the helicopter approaches the island in Jurassic Park (1993) with the theme music?
There are great contenders like the Neptune pool at Hearst Castle in California in the background of a short scene in Spartacus (1960). or the lone oak tree on a hill in Ohio in The Shawshank Redemption (unfortunately hit by lightning and removed). or The Very Large Array in New Mexico with the rows of satellite dishes seen in Contact (1997) and 2010: The Year We Make Contact (1984). and Oak Alley Plantation in Louisiana used in Interview with the Vampire (1994).
For a TV series the Salish Lodge and waterfall in Washington state seen in Twin Peaks is hard to top. The Britannia Mine Museum in Canada before being renovated was used in The X-Files as West Virginia and had a magnetic atmosphere.
