It's hard to see crashes that are staged for modern-made period films, but one would hope that simple economic rule would apply. A studio would look for the least expensive self-mobile vehicle that could be made to look nice with little time or effort. The downside to this is that someone with very little money could have instead aquired the car and begin to enjoy the car hobby. Thankfully, a lot of fiberglass was used in making "Christine."
