Yeah, i know, Toyota sold ' a few ' 2009-2010 Corolla S . The reason i took it was for the tailights. Still don't know if they were available thru TRD options as i saw some other Corolla S with them ( they really look like they were original ) or if its just an aftermarket set but anyway, like them better than http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41utI7qutKL.jpg

Once a popular model here, years of abrasive roads , abuse and even crashes made this generation almost extinct now. Nice to that some in decent shape ( yeah, i know, it has some...imperfections... but still not bad ) did survived

The car has no exterior badges except for 'MMC' (Mitsubishi Motors Corporation, I assume) on the grille, and the Mitsubishi triple diamond is nowhere to be found. I could not find any examples with this grille online, probably because I don't even know what name to look under. Does anyone know what market it might have been sold in originally?

A 1982 only Japanese model, as suggested here and here (by the same person)? This would be in line with this picture imported in Wikimedia Commons by a Japanese user...

I didn't even know that a Gutbrod make existed. Thanks for sharing it, ingo.

Nice plate!
Is it easy to have personalized plates, in Germany, or does it cost "an arm and a leg"?

This J7 has a 1981 plate number. So unlikely its first one.
Registration numbers from the 1950-2009 system (known as FNI -Fichier National des Immatriculations / National Car Registration Record- from January 1994 onwards) are still valid:
  1. as long as the vehicle is not sold. Any ownership change implies the implementation of a registration number from the new system (SIV -Système d'Immatriculation des Véhicules / Vehicle Registration System), and unlike with the former system, even if the new owner lives in the same department;
  2. as long as the owner of the vehicle doesn't relocate. Even relocations in the same department/town are implied: a friend of mine had no choice but to get a new number for his 1st gen. MX-5 despite a relocation just 2 streets away from his former apartment!
  3. as long as the owner doesn't ask for a change. Voluntary change are also possible indeed.

According to the first issue of the 2009 decree of application (fr), all old plates/numbers were scheduled to have been changed by December 31, 2020. There is no more scheduled date in the current issue (February 2015), and the dedicated official website (fr) now just say that "all vehicles should have join the new system in 2020 at the latest".

Although this was the only car, they still produce vehicles. As it seems on their -quite poor- homepage, the name will disappear sooner or later:
http://www.gutbrod-online.net/
because the brand is dissolved to
http://www.wolf-garten.de/
and
http://de.cubcadet.eu/

No, it just costs 12,80€. I thought, this RO belongs to a fellow of me, but I'm unsure, if he -he is also from Mülheim/Ruhr- don't have MH-RO 8080  His best friend has MH-RO 80.

Is that an authentic US-spec VW T2 ? Or just a follower of the fashion for fake US-spec VWs ?

I spotted two convois of the Belgian military. I couldn't identify these trucks:

*on the right, the name of the Autobahn-resting-area, is the old German name of
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Szczecin

In the 60ies, when there were still many Germans thinking, that the time will come back, when Germany will be re-established with the 1937-borders, some resting-areas were named after towns in the former German provinces in the East.

Interesting trivia about those Raststätte !

On the same day my sister picked up her new car in the AutoStadt in Wolfsburg. No, it shall be a correct and legal Diesel, she said.

I've never seen that color before. Is that available in Germany ? I'm asking because in Belgium, the local VW importer has the long time habit of selecting only the dullest colors and seat upholstery.

I haven't seen one for years, then I've spotted two models in less than a month. 1990 Innocenti Koral 55 (spotted near Palermo!) and a 1991 Koral 45 in very good conditions:

No, it just costs 12,80 euro.

I'm so jealous. In Belgium, it's been raised from 1000 to 2000 euro ! And for that price, you still get ONE plate. The front plate has to be made by your local key-cutter/auto parts store/DIY-centre.

Inteesting, I didn't know that (but I don't collect scale models)

Yes, it was an US-reimport. Normally nobody here changes his classic car into the US-spec version, excepts sometimes red taillights or overriders. Usually it's all the other way: the owners rip off any US-spec stuff, as -despite the fact, that US-headlights are forbidden here- everyone hates that, the thick bumpers, the side indicators and also the castrated engines..

yes, it's in the official colour-range - my sister's husband owns a Skoda Octavia Combi in the same colour.

One day, I should take and post pics of the fake US-spec, tuned VWs that proliferate in my area. The funniest are the Seat Ibizas, of course, since the've never been sold in the USA.

I've had a look at the Golf configurator over at volkswagen.be, and at volkswagen.de. Blimey ! So many color choices in Germany ! So many shades of blue ! Even Minzgrün is available ! And so is Resedagrün, but that's more questionable.

And for some reason, the belgian Golf Highline looks like the german Golf Comfortline. :heink:

In and on the way to Danzig (where I am now) I've spotted:
4 Polonez (three Caro, one Truck)
some Lublins (one confirmed to be a Daewoo and a pick-up, the other one a van, and two Intralls)
some 126p (a teal wreck with a billboard, a passing red Maluch, a parked one that I think is still a Fiat, a white one)
a Daewoo Racer and a Nexia
a US Porsche Cayenne
lots of old Polish Fiats such as the Albea, Linea and Siena.
....and a truck carrying several (retired?) Barcelona taxis!

and photos of:
a late 40s Cadillac
a vendor with a Sevel van that sold 'Canadian Burgers' and Canada Dry
FSO 125
Daewoo Tico
2004-06 US Nissan Maxima
FSO 126p Maluch
a US 2007+ Toyota Camry

2006+ Toyota Camry
a nice 80s Honda
