Today I saw wickey's dream car, a Volvo 262 C Bertone, with Dutch license plates.
It was close to the Dutch border, too (where I went to fill up a bit cheaper Diesel).
You see, how this forum has influence in our real lives. I recognized the Volvo and thought immediately at wickey
At our vacations in Februrary I thought at annother member too. When I read the name of our rental car, I had the idea "this could be the big dave's car": a 2008 Chrysler Town and Country.
Why big dave? He's our vaticane-agent over here and "Town and Country" made me think about "urbi et orbi", so I said always "our popemobile" to that car.

Well long trucks carrying big things like that are not common in the city. The few that I usually see usually carry construction vehicles (Caterpillar etc.)

Well perhaps it is because i live in a part of the city in where every driver has to pass along if they want to go to the city so these trucks go too, but as i tell you, its not odd to me
Well! i forgot that when i went to Madrid the last time, i saw these nice vehicles on the road, and sadly others that i missed
Buick Regal
All-new Audi A4.
Brabus Smart.
Renault 12 Familiar with vinyl roof.
Jaguar XK Convertible.
And an older Jaguar XK too.
Sadly these are the only ones i could take, i saw others like a a beautiful old Chevy G-Series, three Cadillacs ( ) Cadillac Seville STS, Cadillac XLR and the European BLS, a brand new Lamborghini Murciélago going up Gran Via with its nice engine roaring, an american Nissan X-Terra, many porsches as obvious and i cant recall any others but im sure there were, going to Madrid is always a pleasure, specially if you see these beauties on the road
PD: Taxiguy ive realize i have several taxi pictures that i took, if you are interested just tell me.

Oh no, not boring not at all! I feel the same way about New York Madrid is a beutiful city too and those nightime pictures are simply wonderful
The fifth picture with the Peugeot and the Toledo is nice, I would have to say those are my two favorite taxis in the city. Normally I don't like European cars, especially Franch ones, but I just like the style of the 406, it's nice That's what you drive if I'm not mistaken? A blue one, right? A stylish car in my opinion
And that red stripe on the taxis, quite peculiar, but distinctive and bold.
Maybe it would look good on a NYC taxi?

Ahh, now that you've got me in the mood for taxis and big cities I simply must post some more NYC pictures I took
Traffic on Park Avenue
Skyscrapers at night
Traffic at night
Taken from the top a very tall building
A rainy night on Fifth Avenue
Taxis in mirror are closer than they appear
Here's a short video I took on my camera. It really gives you the feeling of what it's like to be there. Make sure to have the sound on for the full effect though
http://tinypic.com/player.php?v=33nyz5v&s=3
Oh yeah, and that's the first time anyone here has called me by my real name! You kind of surprised me for a second there

Yeah i took a nice picture there with the Peugeot and the Seat, and yes i drive a grey 406 , and boy! make sure you start being interested in European cars! at least so you can know about the "Old Continent" cars
That of the Madrilian Crown Victoria is funny indeed.
Im glad you liked the pictures, sorry for the blurriness of some of them, that was because i had to rush as i was crossing the avenue , everytime you post pictures of New York i love them, it is simply my favorite city, i really want and hope to go there at some point, its just cool, i love big cities, i love its atmosphere and the whole thing, you know there are many people hating them, many people just like small towns to be in peace and nobody disturbs them, but hoenstly, to me, that's the most boring thing on earth, many people say that to live in Madrid is horrible due to the traffic, but honestly i'd really like to try it for a year and judge myself, some day perhaps...
By the way Max, that was a nice video, short but very nice, i love the sound of the people, the rain, the traffic, how marvelous i wont believe it whenever i happen to visit that incredible city think that Madrid is like that but in an obvious minor scale, perhaps you, after seing New York or other big american cities you might think that Madrid worths nothing, but well, just see it from the "European" point of view if you know what i mean

I completely agree with you, small towns are so peaceful and boring I crave big city excitement! And yes it is quite unbelievable at first. The very first time I went there, I stepped out of the Times Square subway station and thoungt "Is this real?"
Madrid seems quite nice too though, even though it is somewhat smaller. The thing about European cities is they have such beautiful old buildings from hundreds of years ago, and all we have here is modern glass and steel buildings which are quite boring sometimes. The only thing that European cities lack is that they have only a little or sometimes no tall buildings at all, which I couldn't live without
I'm sure maybe there's a few skyscapers in Madrid, maybe in a financial district or something?
But of course no city could beat New York for skyscrapers, there's just so many.
P.S. Do you have any pictures of your Peugeot? I would be interested to see it

Today I was surprised about a car, stinding close to my office, which was never sold in Europe officially. It was a Ford Contour.
Obviously the owner has bought it recently, because it had no license-plates.
The guy should hurry on with the registration, because in Germany it's illegal to let cars standing on public streets without valid license-plates.

At best try it soon. Nowadays the US-$ is so weak, that travelling to the US is not too expensive for us Europeans. And when you go shopping in NY, you can save more money.
Aren't there some low-cost-airlines in Madrid, too?
It's just my tip, because in my opinion travelling around the world is an a more fascinating hobby than cars. A car you can forget in a garage for weeks or months, and you can spend money for your dream-car also, when you are older - but the experiences and adventures, you have made by travelling around, noone can ever take away.

I know, but although it is weaker than the Euro it is still a lot of money to spend, its not as easy as to say, oh its so cheap to go to USa nowadays that ill go inmediately, its still expensive, not as much as it could have been before but it still is, and in shoppings you save money if you buy a big quantity of anything, if not, its not worth it (i'd love to do it though, dont misunderstand me ) so you still need moneyto spend Ingo.
Of course there are low cost flights to the States, but as i said, that's still money

Another reason you might want to go to New York soon is that by 2012 or 2013 there won't be many beloved Crown Victoria taxis left. All of them will have been replaced by stupid, ugly SUVs.
Right now they still make up the vast majority of cabs, but they'll be disappearing in the next few years

I meant hybrid SUVs like the Ford Escape and the Toyota Highlander. Sorry, I probably should have mentioned that hybrid part
Although now that the TLC is accepting a wide variety of cabs including the Nissan Altima, Toyota Camry, Toyota Highlander, Toyota Prius, Lexus RS400, and Saturn Vue (all hybrids models of course) I am interested to see which one will emerge as the majority and become the Crown Victoria of the future.
