[...] In addition, this system can be used when someone is calling to someone. Yes, I’m talking about those nicknames after the "@" symbol.
When logged, you can already check who's calling/quoting you in the comment page:

Indeed, even if it is a little heavy for the server (so not to be refreshed every few minutes)

I call that page once each time I log into the IMCDb. Which won't overload the server, I think, due to my (un)ability to go to the main site these last weeks

Sure, if you use it a few times a day it is fine.
As long as there isn't a script polling it every few minutes

Yes, I know about that. Not very obvious way though, especially for newbies. Speaking of calls check, I figured it out only a few months ago.

I noticed that when you enter the make Tofas, Turkey does not auto-populate as the country of origin.
Could we add a couple other shortcuts for International Harvester, Mitsubishi and Massey Ferguson?
Are there any shortcuts for Model names? I would suggest some for Continental and Town Car Stretched Limousine.

Sure, don't hesitate to make a list.
For models as the browser remembers them, I usually just pick the value in the list displayed when typing the first characters. But if you have ideas...
The shortcuts with VW or Chevy were done mostly for when copy/pasting comments.
I added 'TR' by default for Tofas (even if it should maybe rather be 'IT' but that will be for later, with double-origin possibility)

I was trying to search by 1. car make, and 2. TV show title, and the second parameter didn't register at all; I got a zillion images of the Model A Ford, but nothing specific to "Father Knows Best" show. What did I do wrong? Is there a page giving hints on how to use this resource? I posted a notice about building scale car models of two cars from "Leave it to Beaver" and one from "FTB" in a diorama, but need to know the color of Bud Andersons beater Model A, since it is flamed with a brush! There is no search on both criteria.
Easiest to achieve that is to search for the show, then on the page of the show you find the cars sorted by make/model by default.
You can change the sort order to have the most important ones first, or sort by order of appearance in case the time-tags are filled (which is not the case on all pages, but it helps on series where there are at least the episode numbers)

I apologize if this question (or suggestion) has been answered/disapproved or talked about, but I was wondering about the "Also known as..." movie titles.
I've noticed that some admins do make an effort by adding additional titles in the movie entries, but some don't. This isn't that much of a hassle for the english-speaking movies, but for many foreign movies that I have submitted (and I'm pretty sure this is the case for many other contributors of this site), many of the entries are left with a blank section, where these A.K.A titles are supposed to be.
As a simple example, there was this Greek movie that I've submitted, originally titled as "To vlemma tou Odyssea", but to most of the people outside of Greece who have seen this movie, the movie is known as "Ulysses' Gaze". Of course, I always add world-wide (english title) in the comment section about the movie, but this isn't helping to the person who would want to find a movie much easier when he types the movie name that he remembers in the search box.
I was wondering if there would be a possibility (or at least an option, when submitting the movie) to add these A.K.A titles yourself. There could be, let's say, 6 slots where the contributor could add (as an option, if he wants) a World-wide title (English title) and several other titles depending on the language popularity (french, german, spanish, italian etc) and where the movie was mostly screened (according to the imdb), and maybe even add the title in the movie's original written language (as an example): To vlemma tou Odyssea --> Το βλέμμα του Οδυσσέα.

I try to add AKA's as I approve films for the reason you list above, if someone comes searching for a film, I figure they most likely are going to search under the title they know in their language. There have been times I've added films only to find out that the title was already listed, but not under the title that I have.
I believe antp explained before that non-Latin letters can't be handled by the site, so that is why Cyrillic and Asian language titles are not listed in their own alphabets.

Have been thinking if it would be possible to sort the unidentified cars into sub-categories.
There now seems to be almost 50000 unidentified entries bundled up together, including everyting with the word "unidentified" in the title. Would love to browse cars that have not been identified at all, but get tired after browsing pages filled with mercedes unknowns, volkwagen unknowns, rolls royce unknowns etc.

You can go to the search page and type in Unknown in the make field. You can then sort them by date if you want to see the most recent first:
http://www.imcdb.org/vehicles.php?resultsStyle=asImages&sortBy=5&yearFrom=&yearTo=- &makeMatch=2&make=Unknown&modelMatch=1&model=&modelInclModel=on&modelInclChassis=- on&mk=&origin=&madein=&madefor=&role=
