Rear LED tail lamps illuminate briefly during the impact, not sure why, maybe the dummy’s foot hit the brake pedal.

Fraudulent news (why you really shouldn’t believe everything you see on TV)
I was browsing YouTube and came across part of a video of GM debunking Dateline NBC's staged crash test of GM pickup trucks. I still remember that broadcast from NBC.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vEkc_DlvN9Y&feature=PlayList&p=922CF1331B2DC525&playnext=- 1&playnext_from=PL&index=5

In 1993, Dateline NBC aired a side impact crash test of the third generation "rounded line" GMC and Chevrolet C/K-Series pickup trucks. Dateline stated that the trucks were unsafe and that even in a low speed side impact, the side mounted fuel tanks would easily rupture and the fuel inside would catch fire.

An unknown car was run head-on into the side of the pickup with an instant explosion follow thereafter. The public was left to assume that the trucks were indeed unsafe.

What NBC never stated was that they rigged the truck with explosive charges in the tank to cause the ignition of the gasoline and that the fuel tanks did not rupture. GM sued NBC, several NBC employees were either fired or moved, and NBC publicly apologized to General Motors.

Very funny- but surely not for our walter. :boidleau:

To see the plates (o.k., CGI-generated) is a bit painful. Very badly made.

The Abwrackprämie is going on, now private:

The TV-station RTL will pay you 2500 € for your car, when you gave it to the "Cobra 11"-team for smashing. And you can choose, on which way it will be totaled.

Back in the early 1990s I had the opportunity to drive in a FIAT Panda. It was a nightmare. Likely it´s inevitable to get this weird laughing when driving a Panda for a certain time. :2501:

Makes me wonder what happens to totaled cars like this. Does scrap carbon fibre have any use or value? Surely there'd be more value in selling off random bits of it to crazy people like me. But if anyone did that, I'd have at least one V12 exhaust manifold hanging on my wall. So what do they do?

The video does not exist anymore so I could not watch it, but aren't such car repaired even if awful state?
It reminds me pictures of a Ferrari F40 rebuild nearly from nothing.
