For a 40-something, you sure watch a lot of the Disney Channel. (I assume your kids have it on TV all the time and you can't avoid it? :))
I don't have kids, and Best Player is actually on Nickelodeon.
The way I see it, whatever is funny is funny. It doesn't matter if it's an adult sitcom, kids' show, or a cartoon. Given the influx of so-called "reality TV" over the past two decades, if I had to choose between the kids' shows and reality TV, I'll take the kids' shows.
Beyond that, some of the kids on these shows, I actually saw in adult titles. I found out about Jennette McCurdy from an episode of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," and Hayden Panetierre from "Remember the Titans." Also, since I
am in my 40's I like to see these kids make the transition from kiddie fare to more mature roles. The 2005 movie
When Do We Eat? not only contains Adam Lamberg outside of Lizzie McGuire and other Disney-fare, but also has a brief scene with a young Victoria Justice. I saw it to see Lamberg outside of the Disney universe, which was also part of the reason I saw
Mean Girls.
BTW,
Best Player is up now.
