So who's seen it? I'd like to discuss it, especially since we've been (thanks to Neptune
) talking about it for quite a while.
23/12/2007 @ 02:51:10: Neptune: I Am Legend
I haven’t seen it yet ...
I have been swamped at work, and by the time I have free time, I’m too tired to go anywhere.
But I do want to know one thing ... does the Expedition get destroyed?
23/12/2007 @ 02:53:41: ford_guy: I Am Legend
What? I was expecting you to have been the first to have seen it!
I'll let you watch the movie to find out. They do get some pretty good screen time, though. As for that Escape that we mentioned earlier, it comes out for only a bit.

Can't wait to see it either! i was supposed to go this last week but i have not went finally.

Apparently the 2007 Ford Expedition EL Limited Edition used in I Am Legend has accumulated more attention than I thought it would (I figured no one would really pay it any attention and that it would go largely unnoticed) ... I however, have ran across several forums where people are discussing it. On one forum some users stated the Expedition EL looked "simply badass" and were asking questions as to it’s whereabouts, while others said it looked "fuc**ng sweet!!!" (though I’m not particularly fond of using profanity to described something ...
)
Here is one such discussion (mainly about the accessories it was equipped with) ...
The TruckWorld Website was alive with discussions of the Expedition and site IMCDb as a reference.

I saw I am Legend already. It was an okay movie. It needed more characters, and for Neptune. If you haven't seen the movie yet, I won't tell you what happened with the Expedition, but keep your emotions in during the movie.

I do like the Expedition's sequence.
31/12/2007 @ 07:26:59: Neptune: I Am Legend
I saw it a few hours ago and I am still thinking about it (it keeps playing over in my head)
I really liked it (I would certainly see it again if given a chance, and I will be getting the DVD when it comes out) but ...
... it left me with a sense of broken-heartedness for Neville, which I was expecting from having read the book. However I didn’t expect the feeling to be so powerful or long-lasting. The ending didn’t really surprise me – in the novel he dies (albeit in a slightly different way) The basic story (regardless if you read the book or watch the movie) is going to be very sad and disturbing. That’s just the nature of it, there is no way around it. There were one or two people in the theater who couldn’t keep it in, and just started crying. The parts that really done it in for me was when the film showed his family leaving (him crying) and then they get killed, then his dog (Sam) and when he said hello to the manikin in the video store and then asking it to say hello back. Very sad.
I honestly think Will Smith did a excellent job playing Robert Neville (he captured Neville almost to a T) and if Will doesn’t get some sort of award for playing that part, I will be seriously pissed.

Normally I would put it into my top ten because of the opening scene. On the other hand (bad luck) I know what they did to the Shelby Mustang (Mustangs!!!) during the making of the movie. I will never be able to watch the movie in a pleased way.
31/12/2007 @ 15:55:59: CarChasesFanatic: I Am Legend
About what you tell in the spoiler Neptune, i agree about the manikin scene, just imaging being in a city alone for 3 years, not talking to anybody being only you, has to be terrible.
And the "others" you know who i mean
were a bit scary, i think the fact that they were CGI meakes them more scary with all their movements and faces...
31/12/2007 @ 15:58:26: CarChasesFanatic: I Am Legend
Anyway any guess on how the Times Square scene was done? him surrounded by green screens? i also like the very first bit with all the cars at the tunnel entrance and everything full fo water, i just loved the abandoned city it was great.
31/12/2007 @ 23:49:51: Neptune: I Am Legend
Because of the complexity of the New York Times Square scene it could not be filmed on site. So it was done using photo-based CGI and Laser mapping. Most of the other scenes of Neville (Will Smith) traveling through the city were filmed on site, as is, with some CGI touch-ups.

Actually if New York City were to lose all power (including fail-safe power) the lower parts of the city (Subways, Tunnels, Lower level streets) would flood just as you saw in the film – and I agree I liked that scene as well.

Regarding Neville’s Expedition EL ...
I noticed Warner Bros. and Ford did not play around when they cast the Expy as Neville’s "Dark Seeker" killing machine ... I had already knew it was a top-of-line high end Limited Edition, but I didn’t know it was going to be fully loaded with every single option Ford offers. After seeing the movie I can see way everyone thought it looked "badass" ...
01/01/2008 @ 09:52:44: MBSL65fan: I Am Legend
I wonder if a Die Cast model will be made of the Expedition. Would you buy one if they did Neptune?
And HAPPY 2008!

Hi Neptune, i imagined it had to be done with CGI, no way to cut Times Square of course, anyway, why would everything get full of water? what "things" or systems does New York City have to prevent tunnels subways etc to get full up?
And what i wonder the most, where would the water go to get into those tunnels?
01/01/2008 @ 16:13:20: antp: I Am Legend
If the sewers get blocked, the water cannot be evacuated. And I think there are even pumps for tunnels and metro. Without power these stop.

Alan Weisman wrote the book "The World Without Us" and the following is quoted from him ...
There are places in Manhattan where they’re constantly fighting rising underground rivers that are corroding the subway tracks. You stand in these pump rooms, and you see an enormous amount of water gushing in. And down there in a little box are these pumps, pumping it away. So, say human beings disappeared tomorrow. One of the first things that would happen is that the power would go off. A lot of our power comes out of nuclear or coal-fired plants that have automatic fail-safe switches to make sure that they don’t go out of control if no humans are monitoring their systems. Once the power goes off, the pumps stop working. Once the pumps stop working, the subways start filling with water. Within 48 hours you’re going to have a lot of flooding in New York City. Some of this would be visible on the surface. You might have some sewers overflowing. Those sewers would very quickly become clogged with debris—in the beginning the innumerable plastic bags that are blowing around the city and later, if nobody is trimming the hedges in the parks, you’re going to have leaf litter clogging up the sewers.

Hmm i see, interesting, i didnt know they could get fill up that easy.
Thanks Neptune

I saw it over the weekend and thought that it would have been better, maybe my expectations were too high. The Shelby Mustang scene was pretty cool, but I thought it would have played a bigger role in the movie based on the previews. My biggest gripe is that the CGI creatures (especially the deer and lions) did not look realistic at all.
