Just returned from 2 weeks on Orkney. Some sightings below. The local scrappie/recycling centre closed some months back, so there's a lot of stuff sitting around decaying gently instead of being cleared - mostly fairly boring 10 year old Astras, Mondeos, Vectras, Passats, Volvo estates etc, but the occasional 306, Mazda 6 and a few early Seat Leons and Audi 80s for variety.
1] What-is-it?? wreck seen in the corner of a stunning view from amazing fish restaurant on South Ronaldsay - almost the last building on Orkney before the land stops.
Maybe Transit??
2] Unexpected little Japanese thing
Apparently a 2001 Suzuki Carry which died in 2011
3] Rover 105R derelict for over 30 years - I remember it from way back when, but now reappeared in view as its resting place has been opened up by new housing
4] Shiny stuff outside a Ford fan's workshop/garage
5] 1979 Maxi 1750 which died in 2012 being resurrected from small island slumber for restoration by a local Maxi-fan. 33,000 on the clock
6] Orkney's full of assorted tractors - one little nest with 1968 (that's what the man said) David Brown Selectamatic 880
.... and a 1971 Selectamatic 990, OST 725J, apparently last taxed in 1985
.... and a 1978 Leyland 245
7] 1988 LHD Renault 4 Savane edition, still in use although DVLA says SORN. No other info apart from this edition not sold in UK and seems UK registered from Feb 2014
8] and saving the best to last ... a RHD 1971 registered Taunus 17M P7b outside another Ford enthusiast's garage - according to one of the mechanics, it's the boss's next project for restoration, specially brought up from Englandshire
Has a 2500 badge on back which suggests re-engined from a Consul??
