Pollution and Disorganization

Sorry this is my first post here, but as a long-time lover of cars in film, and a frequent visitor to this site, I wanted to point out some things that boggle my mind about how the site is setup and maintained.
#1 is the lumping of cars together.
The General Lee is a huge offender here. We all know a couple of HUNDRED cars were used during the TV Series' long run. Posting photos of any of those cars under the title of the TV Series seems fine by me, despite that they'll vary wildly in appearance (if you're a detail guy like me). But too many people post pictures of General Lees from the TV movies, or even the '05 and '07 film versions under the TV Series heading. They're even posting pictures of fan-created replicas that have never been on film. This is not how the site should work. The TV Series title should ONLY have pictures of cars seen IN the original TV Series. A separate title exists for "Dukes of Hazzard (2005)" and again for "Dukes of Hazzard: The Beginning (2007)" as well as for the TV movies. Despite the paint job, these are NOT the same cars- just the same make and model- "lookalikes". Does this sound too anal-retentive? Perhaps, but the site loses a lot of credibility by just letting just about any orange car end up pictured under the title. The comments area of such pages need to be policed a bit to clean out such 'wrong' pictures.
Another variation of "lumping" is having a film title, and listing the year/make/model of the main car without separately including that car's stand-ins. As example, "Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry" features three slightly-different Dodge Chargers all playing one "character". Having all submissions for "the Charger" included as being one car is incorrect. There should be an entry for a 1969 Charger R/T, another for 1969 Charger (base model), and another for 1968 Charger R/T. Then, photos should be segregated between the three to better illustrate each car.
Anyway- just a few thoughts on things that could stand improvement.
Still love the site...just wish it wasn't so...messy?

About the General Lee, we cannot delete comments posted by people who post pictures just saying "that pic is not from the series". The purpose of comments is letting people discuss and post things. That include images from movies/series, but any more or less related things, like replicas etc. I do not see a problem with that.
I guess that you refer to pictures posted by wasserspeier at the end of the page? That was just to illustrate an article which was still a little related to the car, even if it is about the cars of the movie and not those of the series.
About multiple cars playing one "character", that's how we list these. In come case they use lots of cars, we can't list all, having multiple times the "same" cars would look "messy" too. The comments are there to clarify that and provide pictures of the various cars, if needed.

jwramc, excellent post. There are many of us here too that share the same general feeling about some of this "pollution" being posted.
But as antp said, posting so many vehicles would be messy. And most of the time, the people posting them up or even other users can't tell those small details apart. They are usually only separated when someone with good info about the cars comments to say that they are different vehicles.
However, I can assure you that as of late, we administrators have been paying more attention to some unecessary posts on this site, and we are working to get that fixed. antp also works especially hard as the main administrator.
But thank you for your post, it was very insightful
