The Estate is still fairly new (first out mid 2009) if a hatch would do wait a few months until the first ones are three years old and the large company fleets are selling them off. Already early Insignias are less than £8K so they will go down a lot later this year when the market starts to get flooded with them especially for the higher mileage ones.

But: if it was my money I'd buy a Vectra as I don't really like the Insignia as much and for your money you will probably get a very tidy late estate version.

Most likely it will be a Vauxhall Vectra, I think. But I'm not really satisfied with its space inside. A few weeks ago we went for a test-seating at three local Opel-dealers. Strangely, they had no Vectra C's, but I took a Signum for that. Until the back doors it shall be identical, the salesman said.
He told me, that there is no actual Opel-model, which offers the same space as an Omega. There are other customers, who are complaining that - and keeping their Omegas.
The Zafira B is out of the discussion. Unbearable space-situation for the front passenger's bones. You re sitting there as in a VW T3-Bus, the seats are only a little bit removable. Forget it.

My wife was a bit bewildered, that I told the salesman, that I'm only there for test-seating and that I want to buy a car in Britain. It would make a strange impression, she said. But I told her "The prices here are so incredible overpriced, that it never will be the question to buy a car here. So why not telling the true intention?"

My friend is still on the eBay-search for the correct turbocharger. Maybe everything will going fine and I can ride around for many more kilometers with the Omega.

Reading comments about Proton in UK vs rest of Europe makes me think: why not a Proton as unusual cheap car to buy in UK?
And as you said, for the insurance statistics it is good

No problem, I can find a Proton here, too. It's so cheap (resp.worthless), that it wouldn't make sense to travel to Britain for that - the costs for fuel, Channel/ferry-passage and accomodation (a one-day-tour would be too stressy) would be higher than the value of the car.

If you look ad the ads of mobile.de and autotrader.co.uk, it seems, that the biggest (or only remarkable) European markets of it were Britain and Germany.

Wasn't MG basically same thing, as Rover?
13/05/2011 @ 21:07:09: Sandie: Help from our British members would make me very happy
Yes. With the exception of the TF all MGs were just sportier versions of Rovers (ZR=25, ZS=45 and ZT=75).

Though now there is only MG in the UK (Indeed the MG 6 has just started production at the old Rover plant at Longbridge).

Chinese MGs? But, as far as sportier things go...you know Ingo's opinion.

:hello:

What kind of papers has a UK-registrated car to have? What the real proof of property? How you can find out, if there's a leasing contract behind, or any debenture bond?

My activities to get a new car are increasing...

The V5 and V5C act as proof of title: http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/BuyingAndSellingAVehicle/RegisteringAVehicl- e/DG_4022310

For checking for outstanding finance you should run a check (at a small cost) with HPI: http://hpicheck.com/ . These sites are not just for IMCDbers to check up what cars are ;).
