We currently list as City Coupé but per the brochures the actual name is City-Coupé with a dash between.

Please hold off on changing because there was a slight misconception about the name change. We have a ton of 2003 listed as Fortwo.

I have posted the 03 and 04 brochures on that page above and you can clearly see that for 2003 the smart name was still city-coupé. 2004 was the first year smart officially changed the name.

It is a complicated case for us since many of the models listed as 2003 might me later ones :grin:

I guess we could keep the 2003 name for the "2003+" models though?

I don’t mind going through them. If we agree on Fortwo name as a default we should list as 2004. If we decide City-Coupé then 2002 would be default for face lifted models.

Wikipedia seems to confirm this change and so do the printed brochures from smart (linked on the imcdb page above).

I believe to be consisent we should default at the oldest possibility, but unless it was produced for too little time compared to the other naming? For example, without the new logo (chicken head) visible we should default to 2002, maybe if the changed logo is visible we could default to fortwo as produced for 4 years vs. only one? So defaulting year as 2004.

I believe too correct naming is City-Coupé for pre-2004 ones, as visible in brochures and official material. Maybe also fortwo should be spelt in lowercase for the same reason?

Just placing this here since other members may miss my post from earlier. I researched, heavily, this AM the International bus face lift from 1989. The model was actually introduced as a 1990 model in early January/February of 1989.

This is confirmed by the vindecoder breakdown I was able to verify this morning.

I don't think you can update these to 1990. I can add it to the list of projects I have in the pipeline. If you want to update the 1989s to 1990 that would be a great help. I just don't know how many different designations we have in the database.

If not now at least the admins and other members know to list newer entries as 1990 models vs 1989 as was previously thought.
