Sales have been falling the last 5 years, combined with the strong yen, and a desire to focus on small cars and emerging markets, like India.

The Wall Street Journal also reported that Daihatsu is pulling out of Europe in January, for similar reasons.

As the bankruptcy procedures for Suzuki Motor Corporation's U.S. contingent come into clearer focus, news concerning a winding down of new vehicle sales has become obvious. Automotive News reports that 213 of American Suzuki's 219 United States auto dealerships have committed to winding down sales of new automobiles, in exchange for money and maintenance-only contracts, according to a press release issued by the automaker on Monday.
