Origin is the country in which the car was designed (well, if you seen what I mean).
So for VW it is usually either Germany or Brazil. For the Beetle, it was designed in Germany, so its origin is Germany, IMHO.
ML is made in USA, but it is sold with the other MB in Europe and other countries, so it could be considered as a German car as it is part of the general MB production and not specific to USA.
About Vauxhall, I do not know
I would say that they are UK cars, but you are right about the rebadged Opel... so we have to decide what to do with these.
Honda Civic is a Japanese car.
I do not think that it is useful to mark UK cars as "made for..." unless the name change, or that the car has a visual difference (other than the steeringwheel side :D)
RR is owner by BMW, but it is still considered as UK cars I think. Well, it is a subject on which we can discuss.

No, I did that with SQL queries for the makes listed on the main page.
Like "update car_s set vehicle_origin = 'US' where vehicle_make = 'Cadillac'" and 1300+ cars were updated
Same for some models of each make: I'll do that for the Fords, and do manually the few models remaining.
So you only have to do manually the makes that have few cars (for which it goes fast to do it manually, as fast as typing the SQL query).
There are few "major" makes that I left for later because I had to check first if the country that I thought is right. And the makes for which we have 10-20 cars that are not on the main page and so that I did not made already.

If you change countries of "major" makes (i.e. those that we can find often in movies, usually those that have more 2 or 3 vehicles on imcdb) please list it here so I know that I have to include them in the automatic replacement list that I posted above.

AC Shelby/AC Cobra should (probably) be named Shelby American (USA) ... some research needed.
Ford Falcon was not a German model, and I think not a British either.
For all the badge engineered cars (Daewoo sold as Chevrolet, etc.) the Origin is the place were it was produced. So A 'Chevrolet Matiz' would be Origin: South Korea -- Made for: EU.
Same for
Dodge Barreiros: Origin: Spain
Dodge Renault: Origin: United Kingdom
We don't want the owner (now DaimlerChrysler) but where it was produced.
Only if a production site is a plant of a company that just happens to be in a different country but has no roots there and no independent production, only then I would use the country of the main company. If a car is identifyable as being made in, lets say Australia, we should use that country as country of origin.

I do not think that it is useful to add CS flag as it is the same as the Czech one; can't we consider that CS vehicles = CZ ?
I will add the DDR flag, I noticed that it was missing when renaming Trabant, Wartburg and Barkas. I first set country = Germany, madefor = DDR, but it is not very accurate (and as we added USSR, why not DDR).

Ford Europe has it's company seat in Cologne, so D would be correct. But if you add the EU flag it wouldn't do any harm. Perhaps some members would rather like to use that instead of a national flag.

For the CS flag, I can add a duplicate of the CZ one, but in my 2-letter codes the CS is already used for Serbia & Montenegro

Even if the new mini is produced in UK, it was designed by BMW people I guess. I am not sure that it should be considered as an English car
