Mazda has discontinued the CX-3 and Mazda6 for 2022 in the US, Canada is just losing the 6 and is keeping the small CX-3 crossover.

Mazda is still planning on the 6 replacement as a RWD 6-cylinder luxury sedan.

When Motor Trend first reported on the sedan early last year, they said the only option would be i-Activ all-wheel drive. But who knows now. Reportedly the platform will first come out in crossover form.

The big news today was the official introduction of the 2022 Ford Maverick pickup in North America. A return to the small pickup market for Ford, this will be their first FWD, Unibody, Hybrid, Crew Cab style pickup for this market. Sizewise, it is about the length of a Chrysler 300, so small is a relative term. It will also be Ford's cheapest offering in the US, with a starting price undercutting the EcoSport by a few hundred dollars. The base engine will be a hybrid with a 2.0L Turbo as an option. 4WD is available on the non-hybrid engine. The bed is a small 4.5 foot, but they are saying 6 feet with the tailgate down. It will be built in Mexico, alongside the Bronco Sport. It goes on sale in the Fall. It will compete with the new Hyundai Santa Cruz and Honda Ridgeline.

It's confusing enough that we have a Ford Maverick coupe and TWO Ford Maverick 4x4s, one a rebadge of a Nissan Terrano and the other an Australian-exclusive rebadge of the Nissan Patrol. Now a pickup as well?

Well, Europe will not have to worry about that, Autoweek confirmed that the new Maverick will not be sold there. They say the truck market is shrinking there.

"Europe, where roads are tight and space comes at a premium."

Really ? Is the author confusing Europe for Japan, perhaps ?

Anyway, I didn't notice the pickup market was declining in Europe, with all the imported Rams running around my neck of the woods...

Probably the real reason is that we already have the Ranger. Though there are a lot fewer options now (after Mitsubishi pulling out and Nissan not importing the new Navara, off the top of my head in the UK just the Ranger, Hilux, Isuzu D-Max and a small trickle of SsangYong Mussos.).

But Mitsubishi isn't pulling out of Europe, apparently.

2022 is also the 1st year for the GR86 ( ex-86 ) and its BRZ counterpart ( funny, they said returning after a short hiatus.. did i lived under a rock in the last year ? i didn't knew the 86 was phased out.. )

rear part looks a little bit like an NSX or Accord coupe...

And another surprise, according to them .. there could be a Lexus variant of those two little sport coupes....

Acura Is Bringing Back the Integra in 2022

Acura dropped a surprise announcement we're thrilled to hear: The Integra is coming back in 2022.

Acura didn't share any details about the upcoming Integra beyond the promised 2022 production date. But the signs all point to a faithful and fitting new addition to Integra history: the vehicle silhouette illustrated in Acura's nighttime drone show certainly looks like a compact 2-door hatchback.

I hope they sell the Integra here as well... Not that I'm holding my breath seeing as how Honda coupes aren't popular enough to be marketable in Japan.

The Ford EcoSport is being killed off in North America. The last ones roll off the line in June 2022. It has to do with Ford pulling out of India, shuttering it's production plants there. Europe will continue to receive the Romanian built EcoSport.

Ford will continue to sell some import and CKD models, like the Mustang and Mach-E in India, but the cars made specifically for that market are dead.

Hmm...the PSA twins are not sold in Japan anymore, but Toyota's in the boat.

Can we expect an upper-class Opel, a rebadged Crown in the near future??...

Today our local car dealers met to present the current models. Most of them are already on the site and the all-new ones were besieged by people, so I couldn't take pictures. But of one car, the probably most interesting one today, I could take some pics: a 2022 Honda HR-V pre-production vehicle, directly from Japan (!)

2023 Acura Integra Will Be a Swoopy Four-Door Hatchback

Acura showed a teaser photo of the upcoming 2023 Integra.

It will have a four-door hatchback design with a swoopy-looking rear end.

The Integra is expected to go on sale sometime in 2022.

The return of the Integra nameplate is perhaps the most exciting news for Acura fans in some time, and we now have an even more revealing look at this upcoming compact. A teaser photo confirms that the 2023 Integra will be offered as a four-door hatchback with a steeply sloped fastback profile at the rear.

So does that mean Toyota doesn't own the Corsa name anymore ?
