Yes, I resubmitted the pic and it cleared up. Same thing with the other occurence.

Could be the case I mentioned then, the contributor who closed too quickly the page before the thumbnail image could be generated...
Were both from the same contributor?

In case you notice the same problem with other contributions from him notify me so I can tell him (in French) the issue. Otherwise I'll maybe add a remark on the picture upload page.

I was trying to think of what was giving me the gray error box on vehicle pages, then it occurred to me that the Facebook like feature is not working. Not even sure anybody uses it anyway.

Site is really bogged down right now. Taking forever to open pages. I filtered bots. Did not seem to help. Also, doesn't appear to be anyone really active at this hour of the night.

I think that may be the backup at that hour. I moved it from 2AM CET to 6-8AM CET
I'll check later in the logs

not sure if its due to the update ( that's why i'm posting it here instead of the updates one ) but the site keeps bumping me out if i get inactive ( but still logged on the site when i leave the computer ) for some time even if i check the auto-login box.
Not sure if its a bug somewhere that some users also experienced or if its some weird thinking from my laptop/browser ( running on try-out Ubuntu USB drive / Firefox but first time i ever get this issue )

i'll try with my sister's ( win 11/Firefox )

What do you mean by "bumping out but still logged on" ? :figti:

I made a change to have the cookie available only from HTTPS in case you log in via HTTPS.
Could it be that sometimes you are on the HTTP version of the site rather than the HTTPS version?
If you want to stay logged in for both versions, you have to log in via the HTTP version.

i mean i did not logged out and just left the computer for lunch time ( one of the 3 times i remember having to log in back ) and when i came back on the computer , i had to log in back . Another instance was when i opened other tabs to check on something ( while assuming i was still logged in on the site's tab ) , when i came back to the site's tab i had to log again to post the comment .

i don't know if it is in http or https , i'll have to check it

slight hiccups today on pages where it's showing I'm logged in, but when I try to upload a pic it gets refused saying I have to log out and log in again. If I do that it works. Otherwise same hiccups as Baube - if I don't do anything on a page for a bit it logs me out - sometimes showing I have to log in again, and sometimes not.

Have you checked if you were always using https? Or if you use a mix of both?

There should be no difference for the session, that is strange.
Otherwise I could try to switch back to the old system, but it is less secure.

I'm not sure what I was on, but have gone into Opera security settings and ticked the box to always use https if available. Should that cure it?

It may help.
By re-reading the code I have an idea of what I could maybe change/check, but I won't have time before Monday. Anyway the issue would be caused by the switch between http and https between two visits with a timeout of the session, so if you always use the same version it should work as before. The switch from one to the other may be caused by following links on the forum or using bookmarks that point to one or the other. But while you are on the site normally all internal links point to the same version as the one you already use (especially since the fix I did a few days ago).

Maybe I should solve the issue by simply forcing to use https version for login.
The reason why I don't force https on this site is that in case there is an issue with the certificate, the site can still be used in plain http.

looks like i'm on http on all 3 laptops ( no http visible in address bar, a little lock icon with a red bar across it ) . Both my sister's and my mom's have the link stored in browser's history for months ( those two i don't need to log in again )

Mine is another story , i manually typed the address from Google's home page , then using this link to get back here . should i write https in the address bar to solve it ? i'll try

anyway, its not a big deal, it helps the brain remember the password..

Great, now this is happening to me on Win11/Chrome. Fortunately I have password saved so it's not a huge issue, but I have had to Login every time the last few visits.

This morning I had the issue too, but it was when visiting a http link from the forum while usually I was using the https version.
I'm testing a change where the https cookie is stored with a different name than the http cookie (but which will also work in https, but stored non-securely as before).
If it works, I'll put that online tomorrow.
In case you lose your password, there is a link on the login page to reset it via email

I'm having this now and thinking it is something to do with clicking on the back to the site link on the forum?
