I don't recall too many issues last week. Just the usual late afternoon/evening sluggishness

Site is so hit or miss anymore. Grinding right now, the typical late afternoon slowdown. Been slow most of this week. Editing takes forever.

As I check the logs when the site is slow for me (easier to check at the moment I see it is slow) I see that it is again filled with requests from search engine bots (and there are really a lot of these, even if most people use Google and sometimes Bing)
I'm not sure how I could limit these.
I could block them completely but being referenced in search engine is quite useful for a website

Don't know what's going on right this very second, but each page is taking several minutes to load. Even the forum was slow to load.

In stead of blocking slow their request rate down?
"Bots, spiders, and other crawlers hitting your dynamic pages can cause extensive resource (memory and CPU) usage. This can lead to high load on the server and slow down your site(s).
Use the following to slow some, but not all, good bots:
User-agent: * Crawl-Delay: 10
Explanation of the fields above:
User-agent: *
Applies to all User-agents.
Crawl-delay
Tells the User-agent to wait 10 seconds between each request to the server.
Googlebot ignores the crawl-delay directive.
To slow down Googlebot, you’ll need to sign up at Google Search Console.
Once your account is created, you can set the crawl rate in their panel."

Even the forum was slow to load.
That's weird since they are not hosted on the same system, not even on the same place or even on the same continent

In stead of blocking slow their request rate down?
I didn't know there was an instruction for that!
I updated the robots.txt file with it, thanks for the tip
Lets hope it will help (but it may take some time before all bots read it again)

Trying to validate titles and it's taking forever for each page to load. And editing, I guess I can forget about that.

just now I saw that the site was unresponsive because a lot of queries were made to various page of the search.
As all were from different addresses (from random countries), it looks a little like a DDOS
Now it is the same with vehicle pages, which cause less problem as it is less heady for the server than the search.

The lone one had two spaces after the C (but not visible because in web pages by default spaces are visually merged).
I wonder how since normally double spaces are replaced.
Maybe it had three spaces, which became double when saved, which again became a single one when I edited it again

I thought a space must be in there somewhere but my eyes were playing tricks!

That is weird, I don't see what could prevent it from working
(except maybe if your browser does not execute the Javascript of the page because it thinks it is still loading, due to something taking forever to finish?)
